  • John’s involvement in “Little Joe” and brief film information

When information on John’s involvement in a documentary about Joe Dallesandro was published on this website a year and four months ago, it was fairly brief and it’s not like anybody paid attention. Now there’s more to it and there are reasons you should pay attention, so read on! Joe Dallesandro is now 60-years old and leads a more or less quiet life, but back in the 1960, he was a protagonist of Andy Warhol and Paul Morrissey’s films and he’s known for being the first man in a full-frontal-nudity scene in a film. Later on, he was also starring in various films in Italy. Most of these are considered…

  • Recent clippings on John: Q Magazine, Total Guitar, Les Inrocks

Here’s a little-round up on magazines and websites mentioning John in the recent couple of weeks. Les Inrocks – second trimestre of 2010 The April/May/June issue of French magazine Les Inrocks is dedicated to Jimi Hendrix (he’s on the cover, alongside a couple of topless ladies) and it also briefly covers musicians and bands influenced by the legend. Of course, John and the Red Hot Chili Peppers get a mention…a somewhat poetic one. In the 80s, groups as different as Chrissie Hynde’s The Pretenders or the Red Hot Chili Peppers recreated his classics. Among the notable Californians, the guitarist John Frusciante, capable of switching from funk to folk with a…

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers might get their own Guitar Hero game

This will, from what I understand from people who bother enough to play video games, be interesting to both aspiring musicians and various kinds of armchair enthusiasts and couch potatoes. Gaming website Kotaku reports that Red Hot Chili Peppers might get their own Guitar Hero game. According to details from a survey forwarded to Kotaku, Activision appears to be gauging interest in a Guitar Hero: Red Hot Chili Peppers concept. Similar to previous games that highlight rock bands like Metallica, Van Halen and Aerosmith, the Red Hot Chili Peppers branded version is pitched as highlighting the band’s greatest hits and songs from guest artists chosen by the headlining band. “Celebrate…

  • Omar & John collab album – now in stereo, please re-download

There was a lot of positive vibes and nice comments surrounding the release of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and John Frusciante free album. However, some people with good ear had discovered that the album was offered as a mono, rather than a stereo download. While that didn’t stop most of the listeners from eagerly giving it a go, the nice people from Sargent House/Rodriguez-Lopez Productions said that they’re working on the problem. So, after a short outage, the album is available for download again, as it was said on the Rodriguez-Lopez productions’ blog. Please, be kind and don’t upload it elsewhere, as it was stated in the previous post, so the label(s)…

  • Here, Air clarification + an(other) Elixor Fixor delay + something new

Since there are a couple of news not really big enough to have news items of their own, they have been combined into a single news, for your convenience. Here, Air clarification As some people noticed, Here, Air, which was on iTunes in USA is no longer there. I contacted Record Collection Music and the nice people there explained that Here, Air was actually never meant to be released as an USA bonus track. It was meant to replace Today as one of the Japanese bonus tracks. However, iTunes had a little hiccup or something and it accidentally became available to USA-based customers. And don’t forget, the other two bonus…

  • Fantastic Nature contest results – congrats to Haley B!

This was meant to be posted as soon as we drifted into this day, but something was wrong with about 1/4 of the system, it kinda blew up, so I’m sorry for this delay. Also, this never happened. OK? So, in the end, only five people were brave enough to take this challenge and distort their views of nature, trying to envision it in a different light. I am not quite sure what kind of an impact the rules had on the possible participants, but I assume that disallowing fan art and the fact that it required some effort did make some people uninterested. There will be more simple contests…
