  • Here, Air clarification + an(other) Elixor Fixor delay + something new

Since there are a couple of news not really big enough to have news items of their own, they have been combined into a single news, for your convenience. Here, Air clarification As some people noticed, Here, Air, which was on iTunes in USA is no longer there. I contacted Record Collection Music and the nice people there explained that Here, Air was actually never meant to be released as an USA bonus track. It was meant to replace Today as one of the Japanese bonus tracks. However, iTunes had a little hiccup or something and it accidentally became available to USA-based customers. And don’t forget, the other two bonus…

  • Fantastic Nature contest results – congrats to Haley B!

This was meant to be posted as soon as we drifted into this day, but something was wrong with about 1/4 of the system, it kinda blew up, so I’m sorry for this delay. Also, this never happened. OK? So, in the end, only five people were brave enough to take this challenge and distort their views of nature, trying to envision it in a different light. I am not quite sure what kind of an impact the rules had on the possible participants, but I assume that disallowing fan art and the fact that it required some effort did make some people uninterested. There will be more simple contests…

  • John was voted the best guitarist of last 30 years in The Axe Factor!

One month ago, John was included in BBC Radio 6’s poll titled The Axe Factor, with the goal to determine who is the best guitarist of the last 30 years (1980-2010). 40 guitarists were considered for this title and amongst them, there were many of them from UK, which could have been one of the determining factors for picking the winner, given that the poll was mainly targeted at the UK citizens and that the most of the 6 Music’s favorites were from their homeland as well. The results of the poll were announced on the evening of 09th April in a special show presented by Steve Lamacq and the…

  • Fantastic Nature contest is on – 28th March to 26th April 2010

It hasn’t been long since the March contest and its results and we’re already heading to another contest in April. After many people really loved the so-called Super-Secret Project and the spontaneous showing of support in 2009, I thought it would be really interesting to do something art-related this time. However, all the above contents had some sort of limitations – this one will only have a theme. It will be a lot like the May 2008 contest that was, sadly, canceled. Nature has always been somehow tied closely to the things covered on this website – and with the most recent interesting project the subject of this website is…

  • Vote for John in The Axe Factor poll for the best guitarist of last 30 years

According to the BBC’s radio 6, contemporary guitar players are often overlooked in most of the existing polls for the world’s greatest axemen. Therefore, they have come up with a poll to determine who are the greatest guitarists of the last 30 years – from 1980 to 2010. Click here to go to the voting page! There are 40 people you can vote for and, as expected, John is one of them. Scroll down to somewhere in the middle of the list, check the checkbox next to his name, scroll to the bottom and hit the black button that says “vote”. If everything went well, you’ll even get a little…

  • Happy 40th birthday to John!

John is turning forty sometime today and, on that occasion, regardless of all the obstacles, circumstances et cetera, Invisible Movement (which is me and all of you who won’t comment on this for whatever your reasons are) would like to wish him a very, very happy year ahead and at least as many years as he’s had so far. As we say here, срећан рођендан / srećan roÄ‘endan! ^_^ For everyone who participated in last year’s giant collage of suns, also known as the Super-Secret project 2009, this year there won’t be such a thing. Those things are only fun when they’re done once as a surprise and not year…

This week is going to be a fest here on Invisible Movement, for reasons that should be obvious to you if you know what’s coming up on Friday and, for some of you, if you get what else is this week. There will be random surprises here, on Twitter, Facebook, board and, duh, here, so you better watch out! We’re starting this off with a contest. The prize is a copy of The Heart Is A Drum Machine DVD which, as stated last week, features a 25-minute interview with John! • John’s “As Can Be” used for a deconsonantation experiment

To some of you, this might be a weekend WTF. To some others, perhaps, a start to an interesting discussion. And I think I just made a new word, as I have never heard of deconsonantation before. Stephen Boyd, aka DJ Empirical used As Can Be, the opener to John’s debut solo album Niandra LaDes And Usually Just A T-shirt for an experiment. The song was edited out so all the consonants were removed from it..e.g. its first line “When you’ve got a clean smile” is now something like “Euiaeiai”. The author explains it this way: My theory here was that since melody is carried in vowels (as opposed to…

  • John confirms that he quit Red Hot Chili Peppers

In a rather warm and sincere blog entry on Myspace and the official blog, John confirmed that he’s left the Red Hot Chili Peppers a year ago in order to focus more on his own work and what art really is for. Here’s an excerpt: To put it simply, my musical interests have led me in a different direction. Upon rejoining, and throughout my time in the band, I was very excited about exploring the musical possibilities inherent in a rock band, and doing so with those people in particular… Click here or here to read it all. on Myspace, you can also give kudos (and it would be very…
