  • More from Glasgow

As the I-M.net regulars who went to Glasgow are probably still more resting, here are some nice off-site pics and reviews from the show. Some wonderful pics…bookmark and check back as, from what I understood, there will be more. Scotsman.com have posted a not-so pleasant review. However, Evening Times says: Opening with an instrumental jam, the Chilis took every opportunity to show off their virtuoso-like musicianship, with John Frusciante extracting never before heard noises from his guitar. and also: Meanwhile, Frusciante dropped to his knees for yet another over the top solo – like the reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix, the riffs just kept coming. • Battle of the Johns…who wins?

I’ve come accross an excellent article written by Feana Kotter for Western Courier and I simply have to share it. The Johns in questions are our John and John Mayer. The author compares them in four categories: the solo, improv, live performance and crowd appeal. ——– In the February 22, 2007 issue of Rolling Stone, guitarists John Mayer and John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers) were crowned as two of the new Top 20 Guitar Gods. Picks in hand and amps cranked to 11, it’s time to determine who would prove triumphant in an old-school battle of the bands. Most people might dare to automatically assume Frusciante would have the…

  • Live Earth, from Reuters

LONDON (Reuters) – The Red Hot Chili Peppers led dozens of pop stars performing at Live Earth concerts around the world on Saturday to persuade fans and governments to go green. Crowds poured into venues in Sydney, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hamburg and Johannesburg to hear Linkin Park, Rihanna, Shakira, Crowded House, Kumi Koda and many others perform and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore call for action on climate change. Genesis, Razorlight and Snow Patrol kicked off the event at London’s Wembley Stadium, leading a star-studded cast there including Madonna, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Spinal Tap, who will play before a less-then-capacity crowd of around 63,000. Corinne Bailey Rae…

  • John is on the cover of the biggest Serbian newspaper today.

It was quite unexpected to see John at the front page of Blic today, especially with the news that went with it. Here’s a photo of the front page and a (horrible) English translation of the article. Later today I will properly and professionally translate the whole article, scan the paper version and look if any other newspaper of web service has more news on this; as I have to hurry now. Please, everyone, don’t panic. Since the next shows are being played, he’s obviously OK. Concert shorter due to health problem of the guitarist Immediately after Red Hot Chili Peppers’ concert in Indjija people started speculating as to why…

  • Reviews of the San Antonio show on 06th March

The Daily Texan says: With the shadowboxing and half-raps of Anthony Kiedis, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of the most original and successful acts in modern music, reaching their commercial and creative peak now two decades in. Without him, Rolling Stone-certified guitar god John Frusciante, Flea and Chad Smith are an unrivaled power trio, face-melting frenetic virtuosity from all ends. read the whole review here MySA says: Go Johnny go is relevant here as a battle cry only if the last name “Frusciante” follows it – because he delivered riffs with an abandon and snarl that was nowhere approached at the Eric Clapton show at the AT&T Center…

  • RHCP not in Belgrade, but in InÄ‘ija?!

According to 24 časa, Večernje novosti and MTS Mondo, as well as some of our sources in local media and some fairies and elves, Red Hot Chili Peppers are definitely going to play in southeastern Europe for the first time in their 22-year-long career…and what’s even better, they’ll be playing here in Serbia! However, surprisingly, the venue will most likely be an open field close to the small town of InÄ‘ija, 40-ish km north-western from Belgrade [the capital/I-M.net headquarters :p]. Here’s the translation of the news published in all the mentioned media during the last couple of days, translated by yours truly. The greatest American rock band at the moment,…

  • RHCP rocked the Grammy Awards and won four of them!

What a night for all the Red Hot Chili Peppers and John Frusciante fans this was! The band won not one, not two, but FOUR Grammy Awards! • Not your usual review…and it also reviews just one song.

This is a review of Running Away Into You, the song from John’s first solo album, from Tiny Mix Tapes. I thought it would be a…well…different read. “Run Away Into You,” by John Frusciante from Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt, 1995 Ever seen that Behind the Music episode on the Red Hot Chili Peppers? There’s that part where they talk about John Frusciante’s descent into heroinism (look it up, cracka) and show pics and video clips of him looking all spider-monkey-ish and ready to scratch-scratch-scratch his forearms raw. OH, SWEET SMACK indeed; as bad as those years were for Frusciante as a person, he made wonderfully jittery junkyard…

  • RHCP won two AMA awards

Red Hot Chili Peppers have won the favourite alternative artist and favourite pop/rock band at the American Music Awards last night. However, as they were not present due to the tour obligations in UK; Anthony, Flea and Chad thanked for the award via the video link. John was not there, he was apparently sleeping already; so there won’t be a video clip for this on I-M.net 😉 If you’re interested in how the whole show was like, here’s a review.
