Reviews of the Calgary and Edmonton shows
As usual, I am giving you best bits of reviews, plus a link to the full thing. Calgary show Canoe — Jam! said: Despite the back-breaking posture, Flea laid waste to any doubters of him being the consummate and likely most influential bass player of his generation. From slapstick funk to powerhouse punk, this guy was up on stage doing exactly what he was born to do: Bring the funk. As was Frusciante, who despite offering blazing, funk/rock solos in almost every song, never seemed to hog the spotlight or overstay his welcome. the whole review Edmonton show Canoe — Jam! said: A weak link last time, vocalist Anthony Kiedis…

An imaginary interview with Dani…
…the Dani as the character from the RHCP songs, of course. A very nice read; right here.

A review of the Vancouver show.
This one is from The Province. In the rock ‘n’ roll game, longevity equals inter-generational audiences. So a sold-out Red Hot Chili Peppers concert means everyone from brand-new fans to their grandparents and even John Frusciante’s cousin, Mari Haworth. The registered massage therapist and her buddy Becky Chamberlain drove up from from La Conner, Wash. They were picking up their guest-list passes at the Will-Call. “John is about the best guitarist out there right now,” says Haworth. “This is the third time I’ve seen the band, but I’ve never actually met my cousin. He gets me guest-list tickets, but he’s really shy and retiring off-stage.” On-stage it’s something entirely different,…

Another beautiful review of the San Diego show…
OC Register‘s Ben Wener has written a wonderful review of the RHCP’s San Diego show last Tuesday. As always, I will let you read a sneak preview, and then the whole thing… What makes the Chili Peppers a double-threat, however, is their playing, which has rarely been fiercer. Kiedis is a tremendous presence, Flea perhaps the most gifted bassist going, and if there’s a steadier syncopation master than Smith working at such a level, I haven’t come across him. Those are important elements in this alchemy, for sure, but the reason why the group is cresting atop an all-time high rests entirely in Frusciante’s hands. Having battled back demons (including…

Reviews of the first of the Oakland shows
Just as expected, the RHCP concerts in Oakland, California, USA were successful….or at least the most of the reviewers agree on that. Since there are quite a few reviews available, I just picked the best bits for you and put them as excerpts for what you’re about to read when you click the links to full reviews. Enjoy. Inside Bay Area said: Although the band’s best known members are bassist Flea and vocalist Anthony Kiedis — both of whom sounded great in Oakland — the true star of this concert was indeed Frusciante. Having gone through more than his share of ups and downs over the years, the guitarist is…
