• Saturday question #13: Number 13

Welcome to the 13th edition of Saturday questions. 13 is a very interesting number itself. Many hotels don’t have a room number 13, 113, 213, 313 et cetera. There’s no car numbered with 13 in Formula One and a car that started from the 13th place has never won a race. There’s a whole series of films titled Friday, the 13th. And many, many other things. Is the number 13 really that scary and why? Do you avoid things numbered with 13? Or, do you think it’s actually a lucky number? For previous Saturday questions, click here.

  • Mayday surprise: 2007 Federation Square Jam

Since this week sure was stressful for some of you (and for me); the other day I promised Twitter followers and Facebook fans something nice. Following the, unfortunately, not always 100% flattering practice of “giving the people what they really want”; I looked at the search logs to see what people wanted to find on this website, yet they didn’t. There were a couple of ridiculous searches (some of which were almost pr0n), but also a bunch of people searching for the video of 11th April 2007 Federation Square Jam in Melbourne. So, given that Jason of StoneColdBush.com was present at this event back in the days and had ctually…

  • April 2009 roundup

April 2009 is over. Its highlight sadly turned out to be something that, in the end, did not happen – Speed Dealer Moms’ performance at the Bang Face Weekender in Camber Sands. However, the kindness of the festival organisators was mindblowing and they offered to let us all know as soon as the event has been rescheduled. On the other side, kindness of Invisible Movement’s “reporters” from the location was mindblowing as well. There was even one person who’s actually not a listener of John’s music, but rather a Venetian Snares’ listener who was interested to see how all of this would work out. The others, of course, were a…

  • Chad Smith on RHCP status, for Q Magazine

This is a statement from an interview that Chad Smith has given for British Q Magazine and it can be found in the issue 275. “Currently on tour with rock supergroup Chickenfoot, Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith spoke exclusively to Q. “No we haven’t split up,” he insists “We’re not playing right now, but shit, man, we played a lot. It was time to take a little break and live your life. We’re not some conveyorbelt”. However Smith confirmed that: “Everybody’s kind of doing their own thing right now” but Smith claims the band – also including guitarist John Frusciante- are planning to “reconvene at the end of September or…

  • Speed Dealer Moms [photo credits: Saint Acid]

Official news on Speed Dealer Moms’ postponed performance

Here’s the direct info that Saint Acid, the founder of Bangface himself posted on the RaverTalk.co.uk forums…with two photos of SDM he sent to us when I politely asked him to explain what happened – for all of those who sat at home and though that John and Aaron weren’t there. Also, for those who generally want to see newer photos for whatever their reasons may be. Click on each to enlarge.   And here is why the performance on Sunday was cancelled, as it was already said here. None of the analogue synths would sync properly. The kit was insane, we had it set up for a few days…

  • Speed Dealer Moms’ show postponed to a later date, perhaps August.

According to reporters on location, Speed Dealer Moms’ show that was supposed to go live like about…now, was cancelled and postponed until a later date (whenever that could be). “John and Aaron apologise to those they’re letting down”. Here’s the crowd, being told what’s going on. Just so you see it’s real. [media id=194] The thing above was meant to be a live cast for all of you, done by wonderful Moshka who’s on location. That was what the surprise was supposed to be. UPDATE: Aaron Funk/Venetian Snares, as well as the organisators, explained that the equipment was not functioning well, as they were supposed to use old machines –…

  • Saturday question #12: Invent something!

Welcome to the 12th edition of Saturday questions. This one was likely to be skipped due to circumstances, but since Speed Dealer Moms are performing tomorrow and not today…why not? This one is pretty broad. It can be about music, so all the usual suspects who eat, drink and breathe music would have something to say; but it can literally be about anything. And I hope you’ll all enjoy it. Let’s imagine that you have the power of the mind to do anything, for a while. You can invent one thing, a couple of things…up to five. What are you inventing, what’s its purpose and what does it do? For…

  • Bangface schedule

Speed Dealer Moms will be playing at 9 PM local time on Sunday, 26th April. For everyone who’s interested, Venetian Snares is playing at 4 AM on Saturday, 25th April. Many thanks to Carole for the news from the location itself! And, all of you, watch this space. A couple of little birdies told me that there might be surprises. Perhaps, perhaps, some TOTALLY high-end ones.

  • The Mars Volta’s first single from Octahedron (possibly with JF)

The first single off The Mars Volta’s new album, Octahedron; a song called Cotopaxi, was played last night on BBC1’s Zane Lowe. If you click here; you can listen to the song at about 30 minutes of the show. It’s played during the Hottest Record segment. According to the TMV afficionados, John IS playing on this song. It was not confirmed, though. It’s still a speculation. Many thanks to Mr.Maniac for the news.
