• Saturday question #16: Your favourite music videos

Welcome to the 16th edition of Saturday questions, after the one week break. Basically, my internet was down from Friday last week to Monday this week and that’s where the break came from. This week we’re going back to the first-ever Saturday question, but it’s much more straightforward than making something. It’s about picking something the world has already seen. So…what’s your favourite music video?. For previous Saturday questions, click here

  • The Standard names Californication one of best ’99 albums

Australian newspaper, The Standard, did a little recap of all the years of the XX century ending with 9 and, as they pointed out, 1999 was the next after 1979 and 1989. Naturally, RHCP’s Californication is on their list. WHEN fame and drugs got the better of guitarist John Frusciante, RHCP recruited Jane’s Addiction axeman Dave Navarro and recorded One Hot Minute – an under-rated and adventurous album that failed to inspire the public or the critics like their previous album Blood Sugar Sex Magik had. After looking like things could be over for the Peppers, Frusciante returned, breathing new life and a fresher, poppier sound into the punk-funk heroes…

  • Anthony Famiglietti, Olympic steeplechaser, shares his love for John’s music

American track and field athlete Anthony Famiglietti is featured in the New Music Mondays section of Runners’ World. He made an iTunes playlist to showcase his favourite song and his taste is pretty interesting. His favourite musician happens to be…John Frusciante! One song off To Record Only Water For Ten Days and one off The Empyrean have made it to his selection. “Representing” (Track 8): “This song has a really unique sound that I like. When I first found this album, To Record Only Water for Ten Days. I listened to it every day for weeks.” “Song to the Siren” (Track 9): “My number 1 pre-race song now. The lyrics…

  • Saturday question #15: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Welcome to the 15th edition of Saturday questions. As said last week, there was a crazy idea for last week’s question (though not as crazy as this, for example!); but it ended up being left over for this week. So, basically…please give a chance to this question; as it’s not as weird as you might initially think it is. I picked it because it perfectly represents differences amongst people who function well together. Or, not really people in this case. Who is your favourite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle? Why? If you were to be a Ninja Turtle, which one would you be? If you were hanging out with a Ninja…

  • Starting a week with an impressive cover song!

I hope you all gave blood today (as it’s the world blood donors’s day) and saved someone’s life…either way, this week will end with something really cool, so it has to start with something really cool. Our Facebook friends and Twitter followers as well as forum members have already seen this, but it’s just so good that it has to be featured on the main page. As he says, “It starts from learning the blues for both hands. Rhytmic stuff has always influenced me the most, bands like…

  • Anthony Kiedis’ MusiCares big night

Since a great deal of Invisible Movement visitors are, more or less naturally, interested in what’s going on with the rest of the Chili Peppers, and one month ago the news on Anthony Kiedis’ then-upcoming MusiCares honour raised quite a lot of dust; here’s an update on all that. The event was previweed by Spinner and given a so-and-so review at Cinema.Terra.br (in Brazilian Portugese). There’s an AK interview at this address, too. luislasports from the board was at this event and he was not particularly pleased with it. well too bad that is the biggest ripoff of a show i have ever been to. the mars volta never showed…

  • Saturday question #14: Lost And Found

Welcome to the 14th edition of Saturday questions. There was actually a pretty weird idea for this week going on, but since it falls on 09th May – which some of the longer-term readers of Invisible Movement might recognise as a very sad day, as that’s what the very first 09th May in this site’s history was; I thought about paying some honour to people, animals and plants that are no longer with us. This question is dedicated to my friend Milan, who hasn’t been with us for 4 years already; as today, my tree-brother Miki and I will be remembering him. Name up to three living beings (animals and…
