• Stream and pre-order The Mars Volta’s new album, Octahedron

If you’re a fan of The Mars Volta, or just curious because their new album is yet again going to feature quite a lot of John’s guitar playing, you can stream the whole thing on their Myspace page. Yes, that’s right, the whole of Octahedron is available for a sneak preview. For everyone who’s not good with dates, it’s out in Germany tomorrow, in UK on Monday, in USA on Tuesday and you should probably check with your local distributors if you live someplace else, as these things may vary from country to country. The first review has arrived as well. Chris Jefferies of InTheNews says: Octahedron is the most…

  • Saturday question #18: Dream setlist, part two: JF

Welcome to the 18th edition of Saturday questions. Looks like the last week’s question regarding your dream setlists for Red Hot Chili Peppers’ shows was so popular that it got more comments than some of posts regarding The Empyrean and John’s blog. Well, this week’s question is similar. And, of course, it should not be taken too seriously and it’s not implying anything…in case that was not obvious. You get to pick a setlist for one of John’s solo shows, no matter where and when. You can pick 25 songs, counting cover songs too, and you can add anything you would consider fitting, whenever you like. So, what’s your dream…

  • Great and raw audio interview from 2004 sees the light of the day!

The staff of IForMusic.com are employees of the Franco-German TV network ARTE and they have decided to share a number of gems they recorded throughout years – whether it’s audio or video – with the worldwide web. Five years ago, in 2004, they interviewed John at the Four Seasons in Paris, during his promotional duties for Shadows Collide With People. The interview is raw, sincere and there are no interviewers’ questions – a soundtrack was added to it instead. The interview is currently being transcribed, but in the meantime, enjoy the excerpt from its very beginning. I listen to music constantly, all day long, every day, and-and it’s never for…

  • Sammy Hagar mentions RHCP’s plans in a Chickenfoot interview (sort of)

Sammy Hagar, nowadays’ frontman of Chickenfoot, that Chad Smith’s also in, has given a (possible) clue on RHCP plans in a Billboard interview. Currently finishing up its debut mini-tour playing clubs, Chickenfoot is set to make its national television debut on during the first week of Conan O’Brien’s “Tonight Show” on Friday June 5. The band then starts looking ahead to a month-long European jaunt beginning June 20 in Austria before returning stateside for a full North American run slated for August and September. Hagar says the group will then take a break while Smith returns to the Chili Peppers to presumably work on recording that band’s next studio effort.…

  • Celebration of Californication’s 10th anniversary over at RHCP Universe

Hear ye, hear ye! A long-term friend site of Invisible Movement, RHCP Universe, is running a Californication week on their Myspace; celebrating 10 years of the album’s release. During this period of time, site’s friends will be presented with various random surprises in forms of images and media; some of them submitted their fan art to the cause and people are also encouraged to tell everyone if they saw the band on the Cali tour and what were their impressions. Also, they’re doing something that sort of looks similar to Invisible Movement’s Saturday questions and from what I can understand, there will be more than one of those during this…
