  • Red Hot Chili Peppers might get their own Guitar Hero game

This will, from what I understand from people who bother enough to play video games, be interesting to both aspiring musicians and various kinds of armchair enthusiasts and couch potatoes. Gaming website Kotaku reports that Red Hot Chili Peppers might get their own Guitar Hero game. According to details from a survey forwarded to Kotaku, Activision appears to be gauging interest in a Guitar Hero: Red Hot Chili Peppers concept. Similar to previous games that highlight rock bands like Metallica, Van Halen and Aerosmith, the Red Hot Chili Peppers branded version is pitched as highlighting the band’s greatest hits and songs from guest artists chosen by the headlining band. “Celebrate…

  • All Saints’ cover of Under The Bridge makes it to A-Z…as Z-list

In a countdown of cover songs from A-Z that was published on Friday on MusicRadar, the interesting thing came at the very end. All Saints’ infamous cover of Under The Bridge made it to the list as Z. What does that Z stand for? Z stands for Z-list.Here’s what Emma Davies of MusicRadar had to say about it and, based on common sense and general experience, I find that many of this website’s visitors will, frankly, agree with her: There’s no better way for a band to speedily raise their profile than by banging out a song which is already over-familiar to the masses. So… All Saints covering the Red…

  • ESPN’s plan to make curling a mainstream sport (satire)

Time for some humour, in hopes that there are creative people around. American sports television network ESPN have a killer plan on how to make curling a mainstream sport. They have an interesting idea of who should be in the USA curling team at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Сочи. Given how popular curling is (not), this was retweeted quite a few times and it got my attention. We’re going on the record right now and beginning a campaign to recruit the Red Hot Chili Peppers to represent the U.S. at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Just think about it for a second – Anthony Kiedis as…

  • Flea on John’s departure in The Watt From Pedro show – transcript included

In the most recent edition of The Watt From Pedro Show, Mike Watt is talking to Flea, playing a song by an actual Serbian band Disciplina Kičme (if you’re curious, check them out – I was really, really surprised to see something from my country in the playlist!), Brother Matt is doing a spin cycle with Flea on bass and, most importantly, Flea is talking about John’s departure and, for everyone who’s interested, Josh Klinghoffer as obviously the newest addition to the Red Hot Chili Peppers family. You can listen to the relevant excerpt right here, though I’m kindly recommending you to download the whole 3-hour-podcast from TWFPS.com [xspf]_start(FALSE, ‘order=92&mode=2’)[/xspf]…

  • Chad Smith mentions John’s departure for the first time in an interview

In a recent interview to a Pittsburgh radio station, 105.9 The X, mostly related to Chickenfoot, Chad Smith openly spoke about John’s departure from the Red Hot Chili Peppers for the first time; after months of interviews that could’ve been understood in a couple of different ways. It appears that the band supports the decision, which is nice. NA: I hear the lineup has changed. Any chance you can comment on that? CS: Well, you could say that, we have a new guitarist who is one of the most talented musicians I’ve come to know; and as a group we are taking steps I never thought we’d be taking and…

  • DJ Moondance’s Shadium Arcadium…exactly what you think it is

On Saturday, Matt aka DJ Moondance released a very interesting 8-track mixtape. He combined eight Red Hot Chili Peppers’ instrumental tracks (seven of which are from both of the John eras) with eight Eminem vocal tracks and created what he calls Shadium Arcadium. The results vary, but some songs, such as Universal Superman, an ecletic mashup of Parallel Universe are actually brilliant. So, if you fancy some unexpected Slim Shady over the Frusciante/Flea/Smith antics, this compilation is free to download over at Crash Album. The tracklisting is below, with explanations which tracks were mashed up. Lost Under A Bridge – Under The Bridge + My Name Is Cleaning Up –…
