Clarification regarding “You Can’t Stop Me Now”
John definitely plays on Wu-Tang Clan’s song You Can’t Stop Me Now. Here’s an excerpt from an interview RZA gave to Scratch magazine where it’s clearly visible: You Can’t Stop Me Now, produced by RZA “It sounds like a black western. I had John Frusciante [of Red Hot Chili Peppers] play lead guitar. The sample we played over comes from an old song ‘Message To A Black Man’. There’s been many versions but we referenced a reggae one.”

Ryan Hewitt sheds some light on future John and RHCP stuff
Ryan Hewitt, whom we know as the engineer who worked on all of John’s recent solo albums and some of RHCP stuff, updates his MySpace page whenever he’s finished some projects and started working on new ones. This is what his respective page has on at the moment, amongst other things: Recorded and mixed a new album for John Frusciante Mixed RHCP European TV broadcasts So, according to this, I guess we might be getting the unbroadcasted RHCP show from this year and that the next solo album by John is definitely in sight. Now, don’t panic, don’t go mad as Ataxia’s AWII was probably ready early in 2006, yet…

Serj Tankian on John
In an interview given for the December 2007 issue of Revolver, Serj Tankian of System Of A Down mentioned John and praised his nowadays-unusual way of breaking the rules of modern music industry and actually thinking about art first. Plus, we’ve been a band for 11 years, and we’ve put out five records. That’s longer than the Beatles, longer than the Doors. [Laughs] Most classic-rock bands weren’t together for that long, though they often put out two records a year in those days. If today’s marketing structure was different, I’d prefer that, to be honest. Jazz guys used to put out four records a year! I think it’s sad that…

The Abbey Road Episode with RHCP on Belgian TV
(taken from the RHCP official site) The Belgian television station Canvas will broadcast the Live From Abbey Road episode with the RHCP on Sunday November 4th at 13h CET. The other bands featured in this episode are Snow Patrol and Madeleine Peyroux. You can find more information about the show on the Live From Abbey Road website, which also has footage and images available for viewing. It would rule if someone could tape this in higher quality, of course. Until then, a short clip. [MEDIA=29]

John to sing on Omar Rodriguez-Lopez’s solo album.
(Danke schön, Melissa! And thanks to other Melissa for fixing my embarrassing typo!) Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is preparing yet another new album and, as said on the D.E.I.M.O.S MySpace blog, John is going to contribute his vocals to it. Calibration is another in a series of albums written while Omar Rodriguez Lopez was living in Amsterdam in 2005. Similar to the recent Se Dice Bisonte No Bufalo album, Omar utilized his usual cast of contributors to perform some of the tracks, while completing others by himself. With an emphasis on electronic, dub and synth-based compositions, the resulting album has more in common with Rodriguez’s DE FACTO output than with his rock-oriented…

An update on the Frusciante/Gahan collaboration
(Thanks to Tatiana, un bacione!) In a review titled The Wrath Of Gahan, in Big Shot Magazine, there’s a very interesting paragraph describing how John and Dave met and how the collaboration simply came by itself: Produced with Andrew Phillpott and Christian Eigner—two mainstays in Depeche Mode’s touring band—in Gahan’s tiny downtown studio, one of the standout tracks is “Saw Something,†which features dazzling guitar work from Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ John Frusciante. Gahan met Frusciante a while ago at a charity gig and the two became fast friends. It turns out that Frusciante is a huge Depeche Mode fan and can play every song on guitar. When Gahan needed…

John as a guest on Dave Gahan’s new album
So…as we all know Mr. Frusciante’s creativity is endless. As Invisible Movement knows from a few very reliable sources, the new solo album is being mixed; and, in the meantime, there was the collaboration with Wu-Tang Clan and yet another guest appearance on The Mars Volta’s album and. As if that wasn’t already impressive enough, it turned out that John is playing on Depeche Mode frontman’s new album! Hourglass, Dave Gahan’s second solo effort, was released on 22nd October and John is playing guitar on the track number 1, Saw Something. Unlike his playing on the other most recent collaborations, this is clearly living up to the style we’re all…

A spinoff in Wax Simulacra video clip
[MEDIA=27] This is The Mars Volta’s new video clip, to preceed the upcoming album. John is in it, too, at 2 minutes, 11 seconds. The scene he’s in lasts about 1/2 of a second, though; but I helped you by placing it as a preview still of the video. (as originally seen here… the version on this page is of bad quality, compressed and meant to be just a preview!)

Info on the new TMV album*
*Urgent catalog translation & laying out + vacation + sudden slow internet + server upgrades by the hosting company = lack of updates for 16 days. Sorry! As per Billboard.com: The Mars Volta has set a Jan. 29, 2008, release date for “The Bedlam in Goliath,” which was produced by band member Omar Rodriguez Lopez. The 12-track set is the follow-up to 2006’s “Amputechture,” which has sold 148,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. A video set to the track “Wax Simulacra” can be streamed from the band’s Web site. Among the guests on the album is Red Hot Chili Peppers’ guitarist John Frusciante, a frequent contributor…
